poverty

As part of our long-term strategy for building a better life for everyone in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga, United Way conducts research to help us better understand trends influencing life across our municipalities.

United Way of Peel Region is proud to participate in a ground-breaking report, released by McMaster University and United Way Toronto.  It’s More Than Poverty gives us the first-ever profile of precarious employment in our region and details how today’s job market is impacting individuals, families and our community.  It shows that precarious employment is on the rise and that, only 60% of workers in our region have stable, secure jobs.

Precarious employment affects us all.  It weakens our communities and undermines the prosperity of our region.  It is only by working together that we will be able to find tangible solutions to address this growing problem.
