United Way of Peel Region CEO Honoured at Mississauga Heritage Awards

MISSISSAUGA (November 11, 2016) – The red carpet at Lakeshore Convention Centre was rolled out at the Heritage Mississauga’s annual awards show, the Credits, where Shelley White received the Heritage Lifetime Award for over 30 years of community leadership, stewardship, and unparalleled commitment to this community.

Heritage Mississauga is a non-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to the promotion of local heritage. Their annual awards honours members of the Mississauga community for their contributions and achievements.

Shelley White and Ray Lessard were both presented the Lifetime Achievement Award in a tie.

I’m delighted to share this honour with my good friend, Ray.” says United Way of Peel Region President and CEO, Shelley White, “I love my community. I’m fortunate that I’ve been able to dedicate my career to helping to positively change and impact the lives of my fellow residents. This award also recognizes the efforts of United Way of Peel Region’s Board of Directors, Volunteers and Staff.”

The evening was inspirational and paid tribute to Mississauga’s veterans. Leaders from across Mississauga were recognized for their contributions to local heritage. The Chair of United Way’s Young Leaders Council, Shivi Gill, was also nominated for an award. Gill was nominated for the Heritage Youth Award for being a powerful voice and strong advocate for millennial leadership across Peel Region.
