Chuck Hounsell set to lead 2014 United Way Campaign

PEEL REGION (April 10, 2014) – As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, United Way of Peel Region is thrilled to announce Chuck Hounsell as Chair of the 2014 Campaign.

In this volunteer role, Hounsell will lead United Way in raising funds to create pathways out of poverty and make the greatest impact possible on the most pressing social challenges in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga.

“We are thrilled to have Chuck onboard and leading the United Way of Peel Region’s 2014 Fundraising Campaign,” says Judy Burns, United Way Board Chair. “He is an incredible supporter of United Way, and his passion to make a difference in our community makes him a perfect fit for the role of 2014 Campaign Chair.”

Hounsell is the Senior Vice President of Payment for TD Bank and has more than 30 years of banking experience. He brings expertise in strategic planning, innovation and fundraising to this volunteer leadership position.

Hounsell’s history with United Way goes back to 2007 with United Way of London & Essex, where he served as both a Board Member and Campaign Chair. He was elected to the United Way of Peel Region Board of Directors in 2013. His additional volunteer positions include Board membership with London Health Sciences Foundation, YMCA of Western Ontario and the City of London Economic Development Board.

“I am honoured and delighted to Chair the 2014 United Way Campaign,” says Hounsell. “The focus of this campaign will be leadership. Leaders can realize change by motivating action and inspiring people to get involved. I invite every person living and working in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga to join me in this important endeavour.”

“Chuck’s enthusiasm and commitment to building a better community are inspiring,” says Shelley White, President and CEO, United Way. “As the 2014 Campaign Chair, we know he will rally the people and businesses across our region to give, volunteer and act, and make it possible for hundreds of thousands of our friends and neighbors to access programs and services they need to live better, more prosperous lives.
