United Way of Peel Region honoured with Voluntary Sector Reporting Award nomination
MISSISSAUGA (February 15, 2013) – United Way of Peel Region was one of three finalists among charities with revenues over $10-million in the annual Voluntary Sector Reporting Awards (VSRAs).
The VSRAs recognize best practices for financial reporting by registered charities that produce annual reports in Ontario. Organizations competed in categories based on revenue size with the winner in each category receiving $5,000. The award winners were announced at a luncheon in Toronto earlier today. Spinal Cord Injury Ontario was the winner in the revenues over $10-million category.
United Way of Peel Region is very proud to have received this recognition as it reflects United Way’s efforts to implement best practices regarding transparent and accountable reporting in our sector. Our efforts are a reflection of the work of United Way Canada and that of United Ways across the country, leading the sector on how we report to our communities.
“It’s an honour to have been nominated for this award,” said Shelley White, United Way’s President and CEO. “Our Board of Directors and staff take our financial reporting and transparency seriously in order to maintain the trust of the donors in our community. It is wonderful to have these efforts acknowledged.”
United Way’s annual report is available on our website at www.unitedwaypeel.org.
The VSRAs are presented by Queen's Centre for Governance, the Institute of Charted Accountants of Ontario, PwC and the National Post newspaper.
