Media Advisory Peel employees support United Way’s Day of Caring™

REGION OF PEEL — On Thursday May 24, close to 220 employees will lend a hand to 30 different United Way funded agencies in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga for United Way’s fall Day of Caring.™

Day of Caring™ is a partnership between United Way of Peel Region, United Way-funded agencies, and workplaces/employee groups in Peel who want to provide a ‘hands-on’ day to complete a much-needed project for charitable or non-profit organizations.

Day of Caring™ provides an opportunity for volunteers to learn more about how their donation to United Way’s Community Fund supports individuals and families across Peel. Volunteers find participating in Day of Caring™ personally rewarding and a great team-building experience. United Way’s Day of Caring™ is sponsored by TD Canada Trust.

Projects scheduled for the day include: assisting seniors, gift wrapping, condom packing , computer training, data entry, painting, gardening, landscaping, construction, yard work and general spring clean ups.

The following agencies will be participating: African Community Services; Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel; Caledon Community Services; Canadian Mental Health Association - Peel Branch; Catholic Cross-cultural Services; Catholic Family Services of Peel-Dufferin; CNIB-Halton/Peel; Community Living Mississauga; Distress Centre Peel; Elizabeth Fry Society of Peel Halton; India Rainbow Community Services of Peel; Interim Place; John Howard Society of Peel-Halton; Malton Neighbourhood Services; Nexus Youth Services; Peace Ranch; Peel Children and Youth Initiative; Peel Family Education Centre; Peel HIV/AIDS Network; Peel Senior Link; Social Planning Council of Peel; The Cross-Cultural Community Services Association and YMCA Peel Region.
