United Way honours Gary and Joanne Reamey as Community Builders

February 9, 2012

REGION OF PEEL — Long-time United Way supporters, Gary Reamey, Senior Partner with Edward Jones, and his wife Joanne were recognized with a Community Builder Award at United Way of Peel Region’s annual Community Achievement Celebration held at the International Centre in Mississauga on February 9.

The Reamey family have been involved with United Way for almost two decades and have donated more than half a million dollars to support its vital work. This year, they generously matched dollar for dollar all gifts to United Way of Peel Region over $1,000 (up to a total of $50,000) made by employees of Edward Jones.

In addition to financial support, Gary has taken on several senior volunteer leadership roles over the years including the Campaign Cabinet, Board of Directors and, most recently, chairing the Major Individual Giving Cabinet.

“Gary and Joanne have demonstrated their commitment to our community time after time through their financial support and volunteerism,” said United Way President and CEO Shelley White. “Their dedication to our community is inspiring and we are pleased to acknowledge their ongoing support with the Community Builder Award.”

The Community Builder Award was created by United Way of Peel Region in 2010. It is presented to a company, organization or individual that has demonstrated leadership and outstanding levels of innovation and impact in support of United Way’s work.
