United Way’s Gifts with Purpose make a difference in our community Take the stress out of holiday shopping!

November 19, 2010

Are you stressed out trying to find that perfect holiday gift? Hesitant to give a sweater, again? Consider honouring your loved ones with a gift that helps people right across our community. Through United Way of Peel Region’s online Gifts with Purpose, you can make a tax-deductable donation that will provide a lifeline to a network of 99 vital services and programs in Peel. You can choose from a variety of postcard-sized greetings, including those that celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.

“Donations made through Gifts with Purpose are used by United Way for local programs, services and initiatives that help people right across our community,” explains United Way President and CEO Shelley White. “Hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life and in many different circumstances rely on this support. Your Gift with Purpose helps us meet immediate needs and address the underlying root causes of social problems so that individuals develop resilience, families grow strong and neighbourhoods become vibrant.”

To make a donation through Gifts with Purpose, visit United Way’s website at http://www.unitedwaypeel.org/giftswithpurpose, make a secure online donation through Canada Helps, and then either download and print a greeting card insert or order a postcard-sized printed insert. A minimum donation of $25 is required to receive the printed insert.

Gift givers can also call United Way directly at 905-602-3650 to make a donation via credit card.

All funds raised through the Gifts with Purpose program bring United Way closer to achieving its 2010 campaign goal of $13.75-million. Please help us reach our goal!
