Say “I love my community” with United Way Valentines

January 22, 2010

MISSISSAUGA — Looking for a unique alternative to the usual Valentine’s Day cards this year? Consider giving a United Way of Peel Region Gifts with Purpose Valentine. It’s a great way to say “I love you” while supporting our community at the same time.

The new Gifts with Purpose Valentine cards provide the opportunity to make a donation to United Way and receive or download Valentine postcards to send to your loved ones and friends. They are available online and feature designs for both adults and children. The cards for children come in sets of four and are great for classroom card exchanges. Funds raised through the Gifts with Purpose program support a network of more than 100 vital services and programs in Peel. Hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life and in many different circumstances rely on this support.

“Our online Gifts with Purpose cards are a great way to celebrate and express your love to family and friends, while supporting local programs, services and initiatives that help people right across our community,” explains United Way CEO Shelley White.

To make a donation through Gifts with Purpose, visit United Way’s website at, make a secure online donation through Canada Helps, and then either download and print your valentines or request that the postcards be mailed to you. A minimum donation of $25 is required to receive printed postcards. Gift givers can also call United Way directly at 905-602-3650 to make a donation via credit card.

In addition to Valentine’s Day, Gifts with Purpose offers Chinese New Year’s celebration cards, as well as wedding, birthday, graduation, in memoriam, and other holiday and general occasion cards.
