Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre was founded in 1988 by concerned members of the community to enhance the quality of life of those residing in the Dixie Bloor area.​ Programs offered are free of charge and responsive to the needs of the community.

Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Program Facilitator (CAP-C) is responsible for supporting the planning and facilitation of programs for parents/caregivers and their children birth to six years of age identified as high risk.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Supports the planning and facilitation of programs for parents/caregivers and their children identified as high risk

·         Acts as a resource for, as well as a role model to, program participants by providing enriched learning and sharing opportunities

·         Provides information about agency and community resources

·         Responsible for the set-up and maintenance of a welcoming and inspiring program area  

·         Conduct ongoing outreach activities

·         Assists with program evaluation

·         Supports the maintenance and submission of reports as required

·         Administrative duties associated with the program as required

·         Maintains health and safety requirements

·         Maintains a co-operative and inspiring working environment

·         Provides leadership to placement students and volunteers

 

·         Responds to duties that support operational growth of the program

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Early Childhood Education Diploma, or other post-secondary education or training in a related discipline

·         Experience working with parents/caregivers and children aged 0-6 years identified as high risk

·         Effective in working within a complex multicultural setting

·         Self directed and independent, but also proven experience in working effectively as part of a team

·         Proven experience in program planning and implementation

·         Knowledge of parenting issues

·         Knowledge of child development (birth to six years of age)

·         Highly developed ability to plan and prioritize work  

·         Good computer skills     

·         Effective communication skills in English

 

·         Second language reflective of the community is an asset
