Meet Chief Evans

Meet Chief Evans.

As Chief of Police I have seen first-hand the positive impact that United Way has on individuals in our community who need assistance and financial support.

Poverty is a big thread that runs through many social and health issues in our neighbourhoods. Poverty is a complex issue which requires a multi-faceted response.

I have been involved with the United Way throughout my entire career.  Peel Regional Police have had a longstanding supportive relationship with United Way because as police officers we see first hand the impact that homelessness and poverty have on so many people in our community. United Way supports many worthwhile agencies within our community who assist people and change lives.

Everyone in our community deserves the opportunity to thrive.

#LongestNightPeel is an annual event held by United Way of Peel Region that encourages individuals and families to spend one night in their car and fundraise. Through real life participation, participants will gain a better understanding of the daily challenges faced by children and adults living in poverty; and will be encouraged to play a part in helping to end homelessness in Peel Region.

This year #LongestNightPeel is taking place on Friday, February 17.

Although anyone can participate in #LongestNightPeel, a few high profile individuals in our community are leading the fundraising initiative.
