Interim C.E.O and Vice President, Community Investment
Anita Stellinga began her progressive career with United Way in 1995 becoming Vice President, Community Investment in 2014 where she led the development of investment strategies focused on poverty reduction, community engagement and evaluation. In 2017, she was appointed Interim President and CEO.
Anita has over 25 years of experience in the not for profit sector with a focus on strategy development, management, public policy and partnership development. In her current role as Interim President and CEO, Anita is working in partnership with a talented team of staff, board members and volunteers to improve the quality of life of individuals and families in Peel Region.
Prior to joining United Way, Anita was a member of the senior management team of the Poly-Cultural Immigrant Community Services organization where she oversaw community based programming, settlement and language instruction and supports for low income families.
Anita is an active member of various committee and taskforces. She is the co-chair of the Peel Poverty Reduction Strategy Committee, co-chair of the Mississauga Brampton Community Benefits Network, a member of the Peel Newcomer Strategy Group Central Planning Table and a member of the Mississauga Mayor’s Poverty and Homelessness Task Force.
Anita holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto Mississauga. She serves as Vice-Chair on the Board of Directors for STRIDE a mental health agency serving Halton/Peel. She is fluent in Polish and Hindi and is proud of her bi-racial background.
